Laila watched her mothers car drive away and swore rather violently at her. She'd dropped her daughter off forty minutes away from the station. It was only twenty to ten, but that wasn't the point. Grumbling at her cat, Otto, she wrenched her trunk from the side of the road and started to lug it along to King's Cross Station. Lalia was not in the mood to push herself through the crowds but she didn't really have much of a choice. When she finally made it onto platform nine and three quarters she found it almost empty. This calmed her down a little. At least she would get to choose the carriage of her choice. As usual she picked a compartment in the second last carriage. After tucking her trunk in the over head luggage compartment she placed Otto, still in his cage, on the seat opposite hers and looked at him.
"What?" she asked, "would you be smiling if you were in my shoes?" She sighed and reached over to pat her cat. "Sorry," she muttered.
Laila looked out the window and hoped people would start arriving soon. She was actually quite eager to get back to school. It had been such a long time since she'd seen anyone.
