How Does This Work? [Jay]

[Ruby Harris]

Ruby rushed out of her last class to the common room. Finally she was going on her first date with Jay, or at least that what she hoped it would be. Changing into long light blue dress she slipped on some silver flat shoes before leaving. Grabbing her dress she walked up the steps then down the hall. Coming to a halt she noticed that she was in front of a big door that was closed. Looking around she wondered if Jay wanted to meet her inside or wait outside for him.

Wearing jeans and a black hoodie over his black shirt Jay left the Hufflepuff common room. He hoped that she would mind that he was so dressed down. He didn't have anything nice to wear. Jogging up the steps he tried not to get nervous, this was like a first date. Walking around the corner he found that Ruby was already there. He slowly walked up has he was checking her out. "Hey." he smiled warmly. "You look nice."

Looking to the door and back at Ruby he spoke again. "Shall we go in then?" he asked. Holding his arm out he waited for her to take it before walking in the room.

[Ruby Harris]

Ruby smiled has she heard Jay's voice. Turning to him her grin widen. "Thank you. You look nice has well." she commented. Ruby nodded has she took a hold of his arm. "So we just walk in?"she asked curiously. She had no clue what to expect, wouldn't the room be empty? Ruby walked with Jay into the room anxious has to what was inside.

[Jay Rose]

"Yeah, we just walk in."he answered. Pushing the door open Jay looked around at the room. On the left side was a tables set for two and on the right was a couch that sat in front of a fireplace. Jay led Ruby to the table getting her chair so that she could sit down. Once she did he took a seat across from her. "How have you be?"

[Ruby Harris]

Ruby walked in the fully furnished room with Jay. She looked around surprised at what she was seeing. She thought this was so romantic. Taking a seat she looked around her then back up at Jay. "I've been good. Nothing much has happened, just studying." she honestly confessed. "How have you been?"

[Jay Rose]

Jay sat back in his seat has Ruby talked. "I've been good. Just the same here. Lots of studying." he replied. Hearing a creek he heard the door open. looking he saw one of the house elves carrying a tray. The house elf put the tray down in front of them and asked if they needed anything. "No thanks." he replied. Has the house elf walked away he explained to Ruby, "I tried to get the things myself but he insisted on bringing it himself."

Looking down at the tray it was two cups with a carton of milk and an assortment of cookies. "I didn't really know what you would like so I just went for cookies." he smiled nervously hoping that she was ok with this.

Ruby Watched has the house elf came and went. She nodded has he explained why he himself did not get the cookies and milk. To be honest she really didn't care if an house elf served them. "Its ok. I like cookies." she smiled taking a chocolate chip one. Taking a cup she poured some milk, the began to nibble on her cookie. "So, anything else you've been up to other than studying?"

[Jay Rose]

Jay smiled glad that she didn't mind. He poured himself a glass of milk and grabbed a cookie. Has he bit off a piece of peanut butter cookie he listened to her question. "Not much. Just prefect duty and I went swimming the other day."

[Ruby Harris]

"You went swimming....by yourself?" she questioned. "Aren't you afraid of the giant squid?" Ruby wasn't really fond of swimming, she wasn't a very good swimmer. Plus she didn't really like getting her hair wet. She took another bite of her cookie has she waited for a reply.

[Jay Rose]

Jay nodded, "No, I went with Siva." he answered. "The giant squid doesn't bother anyone. In fact I don't think it exists." he commented. He had never seen it so he was sure that it was a myth. Taking another bit he tried to think of something else to say but nothing came to mind.

[Ruby Harris]

Ruby frowned a little when Jay mentioned that he went to the lake with Siva. She looked down at the table and stuffed piece of cookie in her mouth did hide it. Taking a sip of milk she began to think of how to address what was on her mind. "So, you went to the lake with Siva? Just the two of you?" she spoke sounding a little worried.

[Jay Rose]

Jay was a bit oblivious when it came to questioning. So of course he didn't detect any worry in her voice. "Yeah. We hadn't hung out in a while. I know she likes to swim so I invited her." he answered.

[Ruby Harris]

"Oh." she said looking down at the table. Taking a bite of her cookie she looked back up. "Well, next time you do something you should invite me. I'd love to spend time with you." she smiled has she thought it was a great thing to say. "So, how is Siva?" she asked with a raised eyebrow. taking a sip of her milk. "Sow long have you guys been friends?"

[Jay Rose]

"Siva's ok. We both mad prefect actually so we don't really get to see much of each other." he replied before taking a sip of his milk. "We have been friends since we were 10. Thats when we first met." he explained. "She moved in next door and the rest is history."

[Ruby Harris]

Ruby nodded has she learned how they became friends. "So, what are you going to dress up has for Halloween dance?" she asked curiously. Has she waited for a reply she looked around at the setting around them. "You want to go sit on the couch?" she asked smiling.
